Coronavirus can transmit through coins and banknotes?

The world is trembling on the pandemic caused by the coronavirus outbreak. Coronavirus can spread through coins and paper money if you do not keep high standards of personal hygiene, but not through your private collection, which is already in your possession. Even though scientific research has confirmed it could spread through banknotes or coins. On the other hand, the chances of transferring the virus through circulating coins and currency are very high. To be safe, always wash your hands with soap and water or clean with a hand sanitizer if a circulating currency or coin touches you. The Covid -19 virus enters the human body through mouth or nose. So if there a chance you need to touch the circulating paper money or coin, make sure to sanitize your hands immediately after touching it, as the bill or coin may be contaminated.

In a study conducted on the coronaviruses, the viruses on this family can persist on inanimate surfaces like metal, glass, or plastic for up to nine days. On paper, the virus can live up to seventy-two hours and ninety-six hours on cloth. This data, not confirmed with the new coronavirus, so the survival of COVD-19 on different materials is still unknown.

As of today (March 21, 2010), there are no vaccines available to prevent Coronavirus virus infection. The best way is the prevent the disease is to avoid exposure to the virus. As per the studies, the virus spread to person to person through respiratory fluids. So take the below preventive measures to keep safe.

  • Avoid close contact with people and keep social distancing (2 meters from person to person).
  • Wash your hands with soap and water often or use a hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol.
  • Do not touch touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands.
  • If there is a chance you need to go out or to a public place, it’s advised to cover your face with a mask.
  • If you are sick, stay home on isolation, always use a mask and cover your cough and sneeze and wash your hands immediately.
