Leonardo Da Vinci’s “Last Supper” 1Kilo Silver Coin
The government of Samoa released the 1 Kilo silver coin to commemorate the 500th death anniversary Leonardo Da Vinci – the world-famous Italian painter. This antique finished high relief coin is a legal tender in Samoa and having a face value of $25. The coin having a square shape and made from 99.99 pure silver. The Last Supper coin weighs 1 Kilo having 77 mm height and 126mm width.
Samoa is a small island country located in the Pacific which consists of 2 large islands and 4 small islands. Samoa was under New Zeeland Administration, got independence in 1962 and thereafter recognized as a new country and it’s a member of the Commonwealth of Nations.
Leonardo Da Vinci was born on April 15, 1452, in the village of Anchiano in Tuscany, Italy. Historians call Da Vinci as a Renaissance man” as he was a well-talented painter, scientist, mathematician, inventor, architect, engineer, anatomist, sculptor, botanist, musician, and a writer. “Mona Lisa”, “Vitruvian Man and “The Last Supper” are Da Vinci’s most popular paintings which are reproduced for centuries. One of Da Vinci’s paintings, “Salvator Mundi” sold at an auction for $450.3 million, holds the record for the highest-priced item in an auction. Da Vinci died in 1519 at age 67. He was buried in the palace church of Saint-Florentin.
The reverse of the kilo coin shows the beautiful and detailed image of Leonardo da Vinci’s “The Last Supper” The obverse of the coin features the mirror wiring of Da Vinci (as he used to write his notes backward!) along with the effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and the inscriptions: – the issuing country – “SAMOA”, the face value – 25 DOLLARS” and the year of issue – “2019”. The coin having an ultra-low mintage of 99 coins worldwide.
